Blur

4-2023, aqryl on canvas, 40x30cm

By listening to this song (and album) and making many sketches while listening, this artwork came out on top. It
gives a full picture about the song and the feeling it gives. You’re being dragged out by the ocean, but luckily the tide
is not strong enough to fully drag you with it. The mind almost gave up, and is blurry, and so it is already in the
ocean. There is still a chance to get up and keep trying, but the body is tired, so the tide is slowly pulling it towards
the ocean. The water represents all the negative thoughts, drowning you and taking you along with it. The tide represents that
you are almost on the edge, but there is still hope. The colourful clothes represent a happy look for the outside
world, trying to hide the negative feelings

In the sketches you can see the different ideas that I had for other songs on the album.

I'm not okay

4-2023, oil pastel on paper, A3

This piece was one of the many experiments for the home assignment for Bacholer Fine Arts Minerva.

The artist that I chose was 'JVKE', with the song ''i'm not okay''. The person under the tree is holding a flower, which refers to a different song from the same artist named ''wonder if she loves me''. Although I was really happy with how this idea and experiment turned out, the relation between me and the artwork wasn't strong enough to continue exploring it and use it as my home assignment.

Pointless

3-2023, oil paint on canvas, 30x40cm
This was also one of the experiments I worked out to possibly use as my home assignment. The artist I chose for this one was Lewis Capaldi, and his beautiful album cover. In the song he sings about how ''everything is pointless without you''.  I used the original cover for this one and created a picture besides the cover. Someone on top is helping him continue the stairs, that represent him, his life, his carreer. Although I was happy where this was going, I didn't feel the need to continue it further and I felt more affinity to a different idea.

This was also one of the experiments for the home assignment. '

I'll Be Waiting

Cian Ducrot, I'll Be Waiting
Experiment for home assignment

This song felt really close to me. He sings about waiting for someone, for love. If I would do that, it would feel like waiting for a train, that will never come. My original idea for this location was at the trainstation in Groningen. It would be late at night, and there is no train coming or going anymore. A worker is closing up behind the person sitting on the bench, who is still waiting, while nobody is arriving. Although the story of this sketch and song feels very close to me I didn't feel the need to continue with this idea at this time.

Serie- Flowerfields

Tulip Highway

4-2023, aqryl + markers on paper, A4
This started as a fun experiment with some aqrylpaint, some tape and a squeegee. For this project I had a refference photo, and my idea was to bring out the simplicity and beauty of the picture. After roughly laying some paint down, I went over it with the squeegee. It gave a fun effect, and it worked even better than I could imagine! With a paint marker I made some extra lines, which made quite a diffence, I painting on a few tiny cars and then it was finished. This fun project sparked a few more ideas that you can see if you scroll down my portfolio.

After making a few flower fields, I was mesmarized by the top view and I looked for more reference photos to use in this project. I came by this beautiful picture of a wildlife crossing in Apeldoorn. The same way I did with the flower fields, I tried to bring out the simplicity and the beauty of this top view photograph.

Mural at Cycle Centre, Centerparcs Huttenheugte

2019, paint and brush, 66m3
This work took quite some planning for a 17 year old. This was my first project, and I didn't think small! I started by making a sketch on paper, that I then transfered to Photoshop. In here I made the whole artwork itself, so it could also be used for different porposes. There isn't anything that you can't see in this mural that you can't do at this park.

Collage

2-2022, paper, A4
With this collage I playing with the idea of giving away your heart for love, and someone claiming it. You give away your heart, but you get nothing in return. The only thing you get is emptiness and heartbreak.
